I have conducted some research into lesson planning, and have picked up some really useful ideas for structuring our time with the children.
EQUIPMENT: Large sheet of blue plastic, tissue paper, prepared papers (eg photos of water to cut up, textured papers etc) fabric strips, paint, glue, paintbrushes, water pots, scissors.
SUBJECT: Water/Underwater life DATE & TIME: 23/05/11
13.00-15.15 CLASS: Reception- year 2
LESSON DESCRIPTION:
-Introduce pupils to books which explore water as a central theme.
-Discuss with pupils how water/underwater life can be portrayed visually
-Pupils will explore colour and basic pattern, and will use basic skills such as cutting out, colouring in, painting etc.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
-Pupils will work together to create a sea/underwater-themed mural.
SKILLS: Develop skills in manipulating materials to suit a purpose
CONCEPTS: Explore and gain understanding of how to create different, basic, effective results with a variety of media.
KNOWLEDGE: Understand that different artists work in different ways, understand that the sea can be represented in different ways, and that different materials work in different ways.
All pupils will work on the same task though very different outcomes are expected. We will provide support as required, and expect to work very closely with the very young children.
