Feedback / observations / ideas from shops and others after Alice Tea-Party
The Art Shop reported that people had been in their shop making comments such as ‘We didn’t realise these shops were up here’!
• Lots of positive comments about how busy it had been in the Court.
• Lots of people said how good the live music was in creating an atmosphere.
• Roger from the Penny Black (Manager / supervisor) expressed an interest in being involved in future events – possibly providing refreshments? - need to speak to / consider before next event.
• Lots of positive feedback given regarding the quality of the publicity material – attractive and professional – linked into bunting – corporate image with Alice in Wonderland theme. Informal thanks passed onto artist – Holly Wagstaff. Images to be kept (as agreed with HW) – bunting images to be used for future FofNL publicity posters – to give a consistent image / link.
• However, several comments were made that the publicity was not distributed widely enough – and should have been sent earlier – areas outside of libraries. Next time consider Guardian, local parish magazines? Other places? Local promotion – outside of Libraries. HW agreed for continued use of her images. Contact HW for future image requests – see LMc for contact details.
• Set date earlier – as soon as possible for Christmas celebration to allow booking of people – give people / shops more notice.
• Suggestion of late November / early December date to prevent clashes with other events – ensure people are not too bored with Christmas events.
• Hazel from My Specs Direct suggests we use her contacts to book some Christmas craft type stalls for the Court area – charge them a small amount? – create more of an atmosphere? She has contacts but will need to speak to them asap to book in.
• Provide more detailed information at the Library about the group and our events – so Northwich Library staff can advise visitors who express an interest of details of events – keep a FofNL folder with up to date information / contacts etc at desk / information point?
• Activities for adults – attracting them into the Library on the day? A lot of the people walking through the area were adults.
• Both charity shops – very enthusiastic and supportive – could we share any funds that we raise at Christmas?

Evaluation:
I'm so pleased that the event was successful and it was such an enjoyable day. My contribution was fairly minimal compared with the huge amount of effort put in by my colleagues both on the day itself and in the lead up to it!
