As part of my professional practice module, I am entering the Caldecott competition, organised by the Randolph Caldecott Society. The competition is prestigious, and being local to Chester myself, I am especially keen to be involved and to support the Caldecott society.
The brief states that we must produce an illustration to accompany one of the texts Caldecott worked with himself. Choices include:
The House that Jack Built
Sing a Song of Sixpence
The Babes in the Wood
The Three Jovial Huntsmen
The Queen of Hearts
Hey Diddle Diddle
Come Lasses and Lads....plus a few others.
I have opted for Sing a Song of Sixpence, and have lots of ideas. I'd like to create something which incorporates both text and image, and which makes an interesting feature of typography.
I will update as soon as I have some more ideas!
